About Seth Shri Raghunath Das Parihar Dharamshala Trust

Seth Shri Raghunath Das Parihar Dharamshala trust was established in 1950 by Seth Shri Raghunath Das Parihar. He was born in 1882, in Tinwari, a small village located about 45 kms from Jodhpur, in a modest agriculturist family. Instead of following the path laid down by the family of continuing farming, he decided move to Jodhpur and start his own trading business, without any educational and financial support. Only because of his determination and sincerity towards work, he became one of the richest people in Jodhpur!

He was soon awarded with the title of ’SONA & PAALKI SAROPANV’ (permission to wear gold from head to toe) and ‘NAGAR SETH’ by the then His Highness Hon'ble Shri Umaid Singhji for his contributions and efforts towards the upliftment of the society. He built a T.B. Hospital in Jodhpur in year 1943. The complete cost of RS. 45000/- then was born by Seth Shri Raghunath Das Parihar. He also extended his support at similar crucial circumstances for the people of Jodhpur.

In 1950, he noticed the lack of affordable and hygienic accommodation in Jodhpur for tourists and visitors from nearby areas seeking medical aid and attention, for visiting students appearing for exams, lawyers etc. . To address this vacuum, he decided to build a ‘Dharamshala’ and incorporated a trust with an objective to ‘serve the society’. The trust was registered on 24th October 1950, unfortunately he did not survive to see the completion of Jodhpur Dharamshala. After his death on 19th March 1951, his eldest son Shri Ram Parihar continued to build upon his father’s noble cause by completing the works of the Jodhpur Dharamshala and towards the later stages of his life, initiated and completed the land acquisition process for an affordable accommodation in Mount Abu. After the demise of Shri Ram Parihar, his eldest son Shri Madan Mohan Parihar took over the reins of the trust. Under his trusteeship, his son Shri Indivar Parihar (then General Secretary, now sole trustee) built the Mount Abu Inn (SRP INN).
